Meet Avneet Saini.
CTEC Registered Tax Preparer. QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor. California-only, by design.
The Saini Ledger is a boutique California bookkeeping, accounting, and tax practice based in Fairfield, serving nonprofits, solopreneurs, and individuals across the state.
The Saini Ledger started with something I watched growing up.
My parents ran their own business. I went to work with my dad as a kid, close enough to see what it takes to build something of your own, and close enough to see what it costs. The work itself, my parents could handle. The financial side was the heavy part. Forms. Deadlines. Letters you learn to dread before you’ve opened them. Nobody explained anything in words that made sense, and nobody ever called back. My parents were giving everything they had, and that corner of their life stayed confusing and strangely lonely anyway. I didn’t have words for it then. I do now. They deserved someone in their corner. Most people do, and most people never get one.
So I built one.
A practice where you’re a name, not a ticket number, where the person answering your email is the person who actually knows your file. The point is never to sound impressive. The point is that you understand your own numbers, and that the deadlines become our problem instead of yours. Along the way I spent years supervising nonprofit audit and accounting engagements at a leading accounting firm, which is where I learned how nonprofit finances really work and exactly where they tend to fall apart. You’ll find that experience baked into every chart of accounts we build.
Every engagement here is led and reviewed by me, in-house. No offshoring. Ever. I couldn’t run this place any other way.
Your books deserve a person who recognizes your name when your email arrives. Not a queue. Not a chatbot. Not a stranger eight time zones away.
Credentialed. Bonded. Local.
California CTEC Registered Tax Preparer (CRTP)
California is one of a small number of states that regulate paid tax preparers by law. Carrying the CRTP designation means 60 hours of qualifying tax education (45 federal, 15 California), a state-approved competency review, a $5,000 surety bond held for client protection, and 20 hours of continuing education every year, all under California Business and Professions Code sections 22250–22259, administered by the California Tax Education Council.

California law draws clear lines between what a CRTP can do and what requires a CPA, EA, or attorney, and I am candid about those lines. Audits, IRS representation, tax court matters, and corporate or partnership returns go to a trusted CPA partner. I say so from day one, because finding out later is worse than hearing it early.
California is the only state we serve, and that is a choice rather than a limit. Every state has its own tax code, forms, and quirks. California has Form 540, Form 568, Form 199, the RRF-1, AB5, the FTB, the CDTFA, and the Attorney General’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers. That is more than enough complexity for one practice to serve well. Depth instead of breadth means the form your situation requires is one we have already seen.
Outside the work.
A good Saturday starts slow and ends full: a hike or a long motorcycle ride, some quiet planning for the week ahead, time with family, and a hearty meal with the people I love. Fairfield gives us that balance, close to everything, and still quiet.
I grew up going to work with my dad, watching what it costs to build something of your own. That is where I learned that the right way to serve a client is to invest in their growth, and it is why we shape our work to each organization’s budget instead of forcing anyone into a rigid plan.
Away from the desk, I am usually learning something new, lately, coding and building small tools for the everyday problems I run into. And yes: the tattoos and the motorcycle are real. Clients rarely expect either from their accountant. I like that.
One more thing, because it shapes everything here: sarbat da bhala, the welfare of all. To me, wishing others well is not enough. It counts when you do the good, without expecting anything back. That belief is why our Give Back program exists.
